Pender, William C “Bill” aka Blue Eyes

June 22, 1936 – February 15, 2024

Bill, 87 born in Davenport, Iowa entered into God’s loving embrace on February 15, 2024. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family in Dayton, OH.

Survived by his wife of 60 years, Reta “The Love of His Life” and their three children: John & wife Pam, Kevin & wife Michelle, and their son Billy. Bill leaves behind five grandchildren: Steven, Teresa, Courtney, Emily, Ashley and his only sister Margaret “Peggie” Meyer along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents William and Margaret Pender, Brother Richard, and loving daughter Suzy.

Bill graduated High School from Saint Ambrose Academy and attended Saint Ambrose college. In 1964 he began his career at The Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois.
In 1972 his job brought him to DESC in Dayton, OH where he retired after 32 dedicated years of government work.

Bill loved his family and had many close friends whom he held dear. He enjoyed his Florida trips, and short golf get-a-ways. He was a life long Notre Dame fan, an active member & supporter of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where he attended Mass daily. He was an avid golfer and looked forward to his daughter’s annual golf memorial. He took pride in his home & yard, enjoyed grilling out and spending time with his family.

He was a devoted husband for 60 years, father, grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The family will greet friends at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; (4500 Ackerman Blvd. Kettering,OH 45429) Thursday February 22nd at 10:00 for vitiation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am. Burial in David’s Cemetery on Mad River road.
