William D. “Bill” Edwards, age 68, of Dayton, passed away on August 17, 2026. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on June 14, 1958, the son of Leonard Edwards and Irene (Cloud) Bryant.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring following a remarkable 20-year career in 1999. As someone who never met a stranger, Bill was incredibly caring and compassionate, thriving on serving the needs of others. In his free time, Bill was an avid outdoorsman- he loved birdwatching, smelling the flowers, and watching trees sway in the wind. He will always be remembered as a hard working man, who was also passionate about various types of art and history. Above all, he loved life. Bill was often seen whistling and smiling. Just his presence could brighten the darkest room on the gloomiest day.
He will be missed by so many people because of the lasting impact he made on them throughout his life.
Bill leaves behind the love of his life, Terri L.S. Edwards; children, William R. “Billy” (Leah) Edwards, Daniel B. “Danny” Edwards and Brenda Rabeno; grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan, Emma and Jack; sister, Joanne (Gary) Woodall, along with numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Stanley and Tina Edwards, along with two brothers, Timothy Edwards and Vincent Bryant.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 2-5pm in the WESTBROCK & DANIEL FUNERAL HOME- DAYTON, 1712 Wayne Ave. Acelebration of Bill’s life will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 12:30pm, also at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bill’s name to Ohios’s Hospice of Dayton.
