Thomas Waker

Age 87 of Dayton, peacefully passed away under Hospice care, surrounded by his family, Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Tom was born to Adolph and Rhuella Waker. He was a lifelong resident of Kettering, Ohio where he grew up on a farm on David Road. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1957. Tom was a plumber for the City of Dayton, prior to starting Waker Plumbing, Inc in 1979, on the family homestead. He was a longtime member of the Dayton Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association. He also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.

Tom loved snowmobiling in MI with many of his friends. He never met a stranger that didn’t become a friend.

Tom is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Eckley Meyer and a brother, Jerry Waker.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Linda (Mitchell) Waker; four sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas J. Jr., Mike (Patty), Steve (Kathy), Todd (Debbie); eight grandchildren, Krista (Tim) Drake, Jenna (Matt) Abshear, Nicole (Emory) Landreville, Ben (Kaylee) Waker, Mallory (Jordan) Waker, Andrew Waker, Morgan Waker & Ashley (Dan) Waker.

8 Great Grandkids, Jordan, Jack & Dylan Abshear, Olivia & Sophie Drake, Charlotte & Cooper Landreville, and Lilly Waker; a sister-in-law Jeanne Waker; numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Services will be held Monday, June 2, at Westbrock Funeral Home, 5980 Bigger Rd. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00-1:00 pm at the funeral home with services starting at 1pm. Entombment to follow at David’s Cemetery 4600 Mad River Rd, Dayton, OH 45429.
