Thomas “Tom” Allan Skrlac, age 86, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. He was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania on February 12, 1940, son of Thomas and Margaret Skrlac.
Tom married the love of his life Patricia (Werner) Skrlac in 1963 and she then accompanied him to Dayton, Ohio, where Tom established a career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Together they raised 2 sons, Douglas (Elizabeth) Skrlac and Kevin Skrlac.
Tom was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Dane (Kat) Skrlac, Erica (Cole) Skrlac, Kyle Skrlac and Kendra (Luke Coon) Skrlac; 2 step-grandchildren, Megan (Jesse) Dillon and Sean Riley; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Donna Dillon, Ronin Dillon, and Riley Jo Dillon. Tom is also survived by his brother, John “Jack” Skrlac, and sister-in-law Karen (Art) Giles, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and his parents.
Tom graduated from Geneva College in 1963 and quickly secured employment at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as an engineer, where he remained for over 33 years. He loved his job and was proud of his service to the Air Force, and he continually reflected the Air Force Core Values through every aspect of his life. He was very supportive of and actively involved in both of his son’s lives, with school, church, sports, music, art, and so much more. He was dedicated, to his job, to his friends, to his sons, to his grandchildren, and especially to his lovely bride, Patricia. He loved and cherished her, and even spoiled her with many trips to the beach where they could relax and spend quality time together.
In retirement, Tom and Patricia were wonderful grandparents who enjoyed watching them grow. The weekly dinners around the table with family became a long-standing tradition, one which was passed to them from their upbringing in Pennsylvania. Their move to Fairborn also brought them joy with wonderful friends & neighbors, and a new tradition of daily sit-and-
visits in their driveway on sunny days.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Tom’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Road, Huber Heights, Ohio, Father Andrew Smith officiating. The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
In remembrance of Tom, the family asks that you contribute to a charity of your choosing or simply brighten the day of someone you love and miss with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Kettering Health Main Campus for the loving and compassionate care provided to Tom on his final journey.
The WESTBROCK FUNERAL HOME- KETTERING is honored to serve the Skrlac Family.
