Thomas Meier

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas John Meier, who left us peacefully on May 25th, 2025, at the age of 94 in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Ann Edwards Meier.

A lifelong resident of Michigan, Thomas was a proud member of the United States Army from 1953-1962. After he was honorably discharged, he tried several different jobs - including insurance salesman and teaching - before Thomas settled on being a medical drug representative for GD Searle (now Pfizer). He flourished, and eventually retired from his position with the company after a long successful career. Thomas was a devoted card player, and would teach anyone anywhere cribbage - eventually even collecting many boards to play on. An attentive grandfather and great-grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family swimming, playing cards, exploring museums and creating the best crepes in the whole world.

Thomas Meier is survived by his children: Joseph (Connie) Meier, Father Timothy Meier sj, Ann Meier (Glenn) Carli, Mary (Stephen) Grech, grandchildren: Lauren (Steve) Enneking, Rachael (David) Scott, Hope (Michael) Brunette, David (Emily Rowles) Carli, John (Kaitlyn) Carli, Aileen (Marcus) LaJeunesse, Joshua (Brianna) Carli, and great-grandchildren: Graham, Grayson, Graham, Asa, Charles, Thomas, Madeline, Henry, Theodore, Eleanor, Emaline, Alice, Evelyn, Elliott Mae, and Rosalie.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Priscilla Meier, his siblings: Priscilla Catherine Meier, RSCJ, and Mary Ann Meier Oderman, as well as his youngest son, Thomas John Meier II.

A service to honor both Thomas and Nancy Meier will be held at Incarnation Church in Centerville, Ohio, on Monday, June 9th at 10:30am. A luncheon and Celebration of Life will immediately follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton in Tom and Nancy’s honor.
