Sandra Sue Kenney (Somers)
2/29/1948 – 10/8/2026
Sandy was a force of nature. She was a strong, independent women who did things as she pleased but was always ready to drop everything to help someone out.
She was a pioneer, one of the early women in real estate in Dayton. She owned and managed many rental properties and always had close relationships with her tenants. She stood up for their rights and tried to help them live good lives with dignity.
Sandy was born in Dayton and grew up in Farmersville. She graduated from Farmersville High School in 1966 and remained friends with her classmates her entire life.
She loved sewing and quilting, stained glass making, gardening, and travel. She loved her family and her many friends and led a very busy social life.
She has gone to join her husband, Steve, who passed in 2019, her parents, grandparents, and other loved ones. She leaves behind her brother and two daughters and their families:
Paul Somers of Brookville; Katie Talbott of Dayton and her husband Tony Talbott; their children Jen Talbott, Alec Talbott, and River Edgington; Sarah Kenney of Huber Heights and her husband Mike Bittinger; their children Michael Bittinger and Mason Bittinger; and four wonderful grandchildren.
Services will be held at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton, OH 45410, on Thursday, October 15 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends, 10:00-11:00 am Thursday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, 643 OH-503, West Alexandria, OH 45381, at 12:30.
