Roger F Belt

Belt, Roger F., age 97 of Centerville, passed away Tuesday June 9, 2026. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Marie and their infant son, Terrence. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Niedbala; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas (Barbara), Timothy (Giuliane); nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am Tuesday, June 16 at St. Leonard’s Chapel. The family will receive friends Monday, June 15 from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Westbrock Funeral Home, Kettering. Burial, Calvary Cemetery.

Roger Belt was born in Springfield, Ohio. He attended Michigan State University, Ohio State University, Duquesne University, and finally, the University of Iowa where he received his Ph.D. in chemistry, and where he also met the love of his life, Marie. They were happily married for almost 60 years.

Roger worked for two companies, BF Goodrich near Cleveland, Ohio, and Litton Industries near Morristown, New Jersey for 42 years. He specialized in crystalline chemistry and held many patents. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and assisted high school Scouts with science projects. Roger and Marie retired in Dayton, Ohio to be close to family and friends. He shared his intelligence, humor, and love of food and travel with every family member and he will be missed.
