Patricia “Patty” Ann Skrlac, age 83, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025. She was born in Rochester, Pennsylvania on October 9, 1941, daughter of Fredrick and Theresa (Morell) Werner.
Patty married the love of her life Thomas A. Skrlac in 1963 and accompanied him to Dayton, Ohio, where Tom established a career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Together they raised 2 sons, Douglas (Elizabeth) Skrlac and Kevin Skrlac.
Patty was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Dane (Kat) Skrlac, Erica Skrlac, Kyle Skrlac and Kendra Skrlac; 2 step-grandchildren, Megan (Jesse) Dillon and Sean Riley; 3 step-great-grandchildren, Donna Dillon, Ronin Dillon, and Riley Dillon. Patty is also survived by her sister, Karen (Art) Giles, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents.
Patty graduated from Rochester High School in 1959. She, too, gained employment at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a secretary, only to leave when a better, more rewarding opportunity presented itself… being a stay-at-home mother. She was very active with all aspects of both her son’s lives, with school, church, sports, music, art, and so much more. Her passionate involvement made her the perfect candidate for a secretarial position at Monticello Elementary School, Huber Heights City Schools District, a job she loved and cherished for 18 years. In her retirement years she devoted her time to her grandchildren, but made time to escape with her husband to relax and recharge at the beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Patty’s life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Road, Huber Heights, Ohio, Father Andrew Smith officiating. The family will receive guests from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Following the Mass, the family invites the guests to celebrate Patty’s life at Fehrenbach Hall, located at the church.
In remembrance of Patty, the family asks that you contribute to a charity of your choosing or simply brighten the day of someone you love and miss with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
The family wishes to thank the Indigo at Beavercreek’s wonderful staff for the loving and compassionate care provided to Patty on her final journey, and the Day City Hospice staff for keeping her comfortable during her last hours.
The Westbrock Funeral Home of Kettering is honored to serve the Skrlac Family.
