Obituary

Nancy Johnson Guenin age 85, passed away on March 22, 2026 at the Barrington of Oakley where she resided for over 5 years. As a resident of Kettering, Ohio, she was the eldest daughter of Howard and Ann Staley’s seven children. She attended Corpus Christy and St. Albert's grade school, Juliane High School, and Marquette University in Milwaukee. She taught in San Francisco and worked for TWA in Chicago and enjoyed the travels. She returned to Dayton, taught at St. Helens grade school, and received her Master’s in Special Education from the University of Dayton and taught special education for Washington Township schools. Later, she supervised students of special education for Wright State. She married Whitney Johnson and had four daughters, Sarah Johnson, Christy Johnson, and twins: Therese and Tricia Johnson. Nancy volunteered in many things: CCD at St. Alberts and St Charles, Children’s Hospital, Alter High School and One Lincoln Park. She married John Guenin and became an instant step-mother to Michael, Patty and Matt. Nancy is proceeded in death by her sister Mary Lou Staley. She is survived by her husband, John Guenin, his three children and spouses and six grandchildren, Nancy’s four daughters, their spouses and 8 grandchildren. She is also survived in death by her sisters: Julie, Sarah, Kay, Monica and brother Howie, their spouses and children. Nancy was dedicated to her family, loved her many friends. Probably her best attribute was active listening in a calm and caring manner. She was a trustworthy, confident friend to many. Anyone that knew her will remember her as “Nance Romance,” or “G’ma.”

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 11:00am to Noon at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
