Michael “Mike” McFadden, age 80, passed away suddenly in his home on September 8, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iris and John McFadden.

Survivors include his brother, Terry Smith and many close friends.

Mike was a graduate of Chaminade High School and later the University of Dayton. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved everyone. He was a faithful Catholic and was a member of the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Parish for most of his lifetime. He volunteered at their food bank for many years and prayed the Rosary daily. He enjoyed attending the church picnics, Thanksgiving feasts and various retreats.

Mike was very quick-witted and made friends easily. He also was a member of the Catholic Alumni Club, where he built many close friendships. In his free time, Mike enjoyed watching movies and listening to classical music. He was also a very intelligent man, always remembering the finest details about the people he met. He was also great at playing Trivial Pursuit. Mike was a dedicated Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He enjoyed going to all the different baseball parks to root for his team. For many years, Mike also volunteered his time with the University of Dayton to serve as a Moderator for the UDOLLI Program for Seniors. He showed classic movies each week and led discussions on them.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, September 14, 2026 from 10-11 am in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 South Smithville Road, Dayton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Mike’s honor by Fr. Dan Meyer beginning at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
