Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Wagner, age 76, of Centerville, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Saturday, January 3, 2026. She was born in Dayton on October 7, 1949, the daughter of Martin and Katherine (McDonough) Wagner.

Mary leaves behind her siblings, Harriett (Gary) Swindon, Ed Wagner, Ruth (Tim) Hogsten, Tom (Cheri) Wagner, and Paula Smith; nieces and nephews, Kathy, Pat (Jamie), Mike (Jen), Jason, Chris (Ashley), and Christina (Joe); great-nieces and nephews, Kyle, Kaden, Emma, Aubrey, Mikayla, Hailey and Natalie; dear friend, Alison Smith and her children, Greg, Mike, Matt and Maribeth, along with her other close friends, Flo Spitzmiller and Roxanne Longo.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her nephew, Mark; sister-in-law, Judi, and brother-in-law, Walt.

Mary taught at Stivers High School and also worked at NCR and Nemea. She was a faithful Catholic, and was a member at Church of the Incarnation, regularly praying the Rosary. She had many hobbies, was an avid reader, and loved to sew and quilt. In her free time, Mary also enjoyed playing tennis and researching her family genealogy. Mary enjoyed making many cute blankets for the children. She also loved traveling and went on many cruises all around the world. Mary was a proud graduate and loyal fan of The Ohio State University, also receiving her master’s degree from Wright State University in Library Science.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the WESTBROCK FUNERAL HOME- KETTERING, 5980 Bigger Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Dan Meyer at 11:00am in the Church of the Incarnation, and Mary will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery following Mass.
