Lynn Marie Poelking, 87, passed away peacefully on August 7th, 2026. She was born on January 28th, 1939, to Maurice and Theresa (Manz) Russell.

Lynn graduated from Julienne High School in 1956 and then completed nursing school at St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. On August 29th, 1959, she married Jerome “Jerry” Poelking and spent 44 loving years together until his passing in 2003. She began her career as a Registered Nurse before becoming a homemaker and devoting herself to her children and family. She later became involved in the family business at Poelking Marian Lanes, where she contributed her time, dedication, and steady presence. Lynn and Jerry moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1997 after years of visiting, which was her happy place.

Lynn lived a life marked by love, strength, and devotion to those closest to her. She had a passion for cooking and baking, particularly her Christmas cookies and various pies that all her children and grandchildren immensely enjoyed. Lynn enjoyed playing Mahjong, slot machines, and cards alongside her friends. She enjoyed traveling the world with two of her closest friends, Ginny and Ida. One of the places where Lynn felt most at peace was near the water; whether enjoying the view, listening to the sounds of the water, or simply taking in its beauty, she found a special kind of comfort there.

Lynn is survived by her son Michael (Ellen) Poelking and daughter Kelly (David) Weckesser; her brother Michael (Joanne) Russell; Sisters-in-law Margaret Russell, Linda Weprin and Helen Witt; her grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Dennis, Christopher, Zachary, Jason, Nicholas, Molly, Samantha, Marie, and Annie; and ten great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Poelking on December 18, 2003; daughter Denise Poelking on December 4, 2011, along with her in-laws, James (Phyllis) Poelking, Virginia Poelking, Daniel Russell, Joseph T. Poelking Jr., Jon (Linda) Poelking, and Bart Weprin.

The family will be holding a private event in Lynn’s memory. They extend a special thank you to all who offered prayers for Lynn’s comfort and peace. They would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at both Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton and Vienna Springs Health Campus for their care, compassion and kindness towards Lynn during her final months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or the American Diabetes Association.
