Lawrence Allen “Larry” Ferguson, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023 in Springboro, Ohio with his beloved daughter Lynn and son Bryan by his side.

The son of Danny Neff and Evelyn (Byrd) Neff, Larry was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 26, 1936. Larry was an outstanding scholar athlete at Dayton's Stivers High School and was an all-city football, basketball, track and baseball player. After graduating from Stivers in 1954 he entered Purdue University where he earned his BS Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1958. While at Purdue University Larry was a member of the varsity football team and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

After graduation in the spring of 1958 Larry married his high school sweetheart Mary Byard and they remained happily married for 56 years until Mary’s death. Early in his career Larry was an engineer at NCR in Dayton and with Xerox in Rochester, New York and in Los Angeles County, California. He returned to Dayton in 1975 and later retired as a senior engineer and project manager at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his son Douglas Ferguson, his parents Danny and Evelyn, and sister-in-law Phyllis Ferguson. He is survived by his son Bryan Ferguson of Carlsbad, CA; daughter Lynn Ferguson Armstrong and her husband Phil Armstrong of Darien, CT; grandchildren Cole and Kate Armstrong of Darien, CT; brother Richard Ferguson of Beavercreek, OH; and half-sister Bonnie Neff Pennington and her husband William Pennington of Atlanta, GA.

Larry will be remembered as a dedicated, supportive, and loving family man and for his respectful, kind, and generous nature. A small family service will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Day City Hospice's The Hope Foundation ( www.daycityhospice.com ) or to any Hospice chapter of your choosing.
