Kenneth (Ken) Anthony Marchal, born on April 20, 1941, in Newport, Ohio, passed away on March 9, 2026. Throughout his life, Ken embodied dedication and passion, both in his professional career and personal interests. 

Ken's strong work ethic was developed on the family farm in Russia, Ohio and carried out throughout his professional career. Ken attended Miami Jacobs College, earning an Associate Degree in Business that laid the groundwork for his future endeavors. Upon graduation, Ken worked at NCR for 32 years. After taking early retirement, he began a second career as a realtor where he thrived for 25 years, building lasting relationships in the community. 

Beyond his career, he was known as an avid fan of Notre Dame Football, Cincinnati Reds, and University of Dayton Basketball. His love for sports was matched by his commitment to service; he actively participated with the Knights of Columbus and was a dedicated member of the Dayton Optimist Club. Ken's generosity and commitment to youth were evident through his volunteer work with North Riverside Little League, Our Lady of Mercy, and Chaminade Julienne High School. 

He is survived by his loving children: Douglas (Missy) Marchal, Kimberly (John) Miller, Annette (Peter) Dunphy, and Steve (Sherry) Marchal. Kenneth's legacy continues through his grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Jack) Mitchell, Victoria Miller (fiancé, Justin Winters), Benjamin (Marylynn) Dunphy, Taylor Marchal (fiancé, Ivan Tran), Christopher Miller, Ryan Marchal, and Matthew Marchal (fiancé , Caitlin Griffin). He also cherished his great-grandchildren: Julia Mitchell, Jamie Dunphy, and Christian Dunphy. 

Ken is also survived by his siblings: Jerome (Doris) Marchal, Sue (Jim) Millhouse, Dennis (Barb) Marchal, Dale Marchal, Illean (Frank) Ratermann, sister-in-law Deb Marchal, Jane (Mike) Horstman, and Ron (Karen) Marchal. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony H. and Rozitta (Barhorst) Marchal, his wife Elaine C. Marchal, his granddaughters, Allison, Lindsey, and Lauren Miller, brother Randy Marchal, and sisters-in-law Rose Marchal and Tina Marchal. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in his honor at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 411 East 2nd Street, Dayton, OH 45402, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Kenneth Pleimann celebrant. Ken will then be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery alongside his wife of 38 years. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Chaminade Julienne High School Annual Fund. 

Ken's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his dedicated caregivers, Jill and Carol, and the nursing staff at The Courtyard at Centerville. With their help and compassion, Ken was able to live out his last days with comfort and dignity.
