JOSEPHINE M. “JO” (MAYAUSKAS) FISCHER, age 98, of Dayton, passed away on January 26, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Dayton on December 14, 1927, the daughter of Frank and Marcella (Lakavich) Mayauskas. She was the last surviving of their ten children.

Jo was a 1946 graduate of Kiser High School. She married Alfred Fischer on October 3, 1964, and loved the family they built together more than anything.

She leaves behind her husband, Al Fischer; sons, Anthony (Anne-Marie) Fischer, John Fischer; daughter, Ann Deweese; grandsons, Caden and Carsten Deweese. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with her two beloved cats, Patches and Stripey, along with all of her strays.

In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her nine siblings and their spouses.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Anthony Geraci on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00am in the St. Mary Catholic Church, 322 Xenia Avenue, Dayton. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
