On January 24, 2026, Josefa “Jo” Johnson passed away peacefully following a brief illness. Born in Moosburg, Germany (Bavaria) in 1932 to Vinzenz and Paula Maier, she later emigrated to Columbus, OH in the early 50’s. There she met her future husband of 42 years, Hobert Glenn Johnson, and they spent the next 25 years traveling the world as an active duty Air Force couple, adding a son, Glenn Vincent, to their union along the way. After retirement in 1968, they settled in Kettering, OH to enjoy growing old together in a lifelong home. Jo was an avid gardener and spent many happy days over the years in her garden tending to numerous beds of beautiful flowers and a variety of vegetables that she used in the preparation of delicious family meals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister (Vinta) and is survived by her faithful son, Glenn (Ohio) and a cherished brother Vinzenz (Germany).
On March 20, 2026 she will be reunited with her beloved and devoted husband during a brief interment ceremony at the Dayton National Cemetery (4400 West Third Street, Dayton, OH). Following the ceremony, friends and family are invited to attend a celebratory lunch at the Amber Rose Restaurant (1400 Valley Street, Dayton, OH) beginning at 11:30PM in honor of Josefa’s life.
