Jerry Paul Fitzgerald, 77, of Waynesville, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at Kettering Hospital.

Jerry was born on October 5, 1948, in Belmont County, Ohio, to Louis and Hazel (Mason) Fitzgerald.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and spent his career as a Sales Manager in the food brokerage industry. Jerry had a deep love for spending time at the lake with family and friends. He took great pride in his boats and especially cherished taking loved ones out on the water for skiing.

Jerry and his late wife, Sharon (“Shar”), enjoyed traveling together and going on cruises. They were devoted members of the Amvets Post in Rocky Mount, MO, and the local American Legion post, where they spent time with fellow veterans and generously volunteered to help others. Jerry held the honored status of “Blue Hat” at the American Legion.

Jerry is survived by his children Cathy (Don) Miller, Shawn Fitzgerald, Michele Wasson, Shawn (Cindy) Dukes, and Dennis Dukes; grandchildren Elizabeth Miller, Chloe Miller, Jarett Wasson, Cassidy (Grant) Zawadzki, Allie Wasson, Spencer Dukes, and Elly Dukes; and great‑grandchildren Parker, Griffin, and Brinley Zawadzki.

He is also survived by his sister Patty (Art) Henderson, his dog Khange, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Shar) Fitzgerald; his parents; and his sister Betty (Paul) Jensen.

Jerry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH, at 1:00 p.m. on April 25, 2026. A celebration of his life will follow from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Waynesville, OH.
