James L. Neal "Jim"

James L. Neal, affectionately known as Jim, passed away unexpectedly on September 9, 2026. He was born on April 13, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio, and will be remembered as a man whose warmth, stories, and deep love for family left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Jim was a graduate of Stebbins High School. He was employed with Boyle Mechanical, where he worked as a chiller specialist and also served in sales. He brought dedication to his work and took pride in the relationships and many friendships he built along the way.

Jim had a true passion for life. He was a professional bass fisherman who loved spending time on the water. He also had a lifelong love for his old race cars. Jim always had a great story to tell, and if you had the opportunity to sit down and talk with him, chances are you walked away with a story, a laugh, or a little bit of wisdom.

Above all, Jim treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie of 51 years. He also leaves behind his son, Jason; his daughter, Stacy (Brad) Townsend; grandchildren, Evan and Emma; sister, Mary “Kathy” Counsil (Joe) of Rolla, MO; his brother, David; his uncle, Nelson of Lakeland, FL and his best furry friend, Molly. The love he shared with his family, and the memories he created together, will remain a lasting comfort in the days ahead.

He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Neal, and his mother, Mary Neal, née Brinegar.

Jim will be remembered for his conversation, his laughter, his smile, his passions, and the steady presence he brought to the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in family gatherings, in stories retold, and in the many quiet and joyful moments that will always call him to mind.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
