HELEN S. JONES, age 90, of Kettering, passed away on July 28, 2026. She was born in Dayton on May 23, 1936.

Helen was a proud graduate of Julienne High School and later the University of Dayton. Throughout her life, she was an active member of the Notre Dame Julienne Alumni Association in support of their missions. She built her career on a life of service, spanning the first 34 years as a 4th grade teacher, at Ascension and Our Lady of Rosay Schools before her retirement. Following her retirement, Helen returned to work as a cashier at the Golden Nugget for nearly the next 20 years, where she was a customer favorite. She was a faithful member at Church of the Ascension for many years. In her free time, Helen was an avid reader and enjoyed tending to her roses. Above all, family meant everything to Helen, especially the time she cherished with her grandchildren, who she was incredibly proud of.

Helen is survived by her children, David Jones, Kathy (Chris) Gorski and Chris Jones; grandchildren, Maggie (Brad Dillon) Gorski, Jack (Annelise) Gorski, Sam Gorski, Nathan Jones and Sydney Jones along with her sister, Fran (Jim) Hageman, in addition to several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, William and Viola, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Wally (Mary) Jones, along with two sisters, Carol (Sister Mary Christopher) Straukamp and Dorothy Napier-Buxton.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 10-11 am in Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Drive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in her honor beginning at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at David’s Cemetery.

Helen's family would like to thank her neighbors and friends, Paul & Angie Stroud and Vera Stewart for the many years they spent assisting Helen. The family also extends their gratitude to the staff of the Kettering Health- Main Campus Infusion Center for the compassionate care provided to her over the years.
