Eugenia “Jeanne” (Kirchhoff) Meintel, 100, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on August 1, 2026.

Born April 17, 1926, in Rochester, New York, to Armond and Francis (Aman) Kirchhoff, Jeanne was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to caring for her family. In 1966, the family moved to Kettering. Once all the children were in school, she served for many years in the cafeterias of Archbishop Alter High School and the Kettering City Schools. Following her retirement, she gave generously of her time as a volunteer at St. Leonard’s Communities. She was an avid quilter and found deep joy in sewing, knitting, and gardening.

Jeanne is survived by her devoted husband of 80 years, Norman V. Meintel Jr.; her nine children: Mary Jean Johnson (Larry), Peggy Gagner (David), Tom (Donna), Joe (Sue), Chuck (Sandy), Matt (Rayna), Jim (Laura), Norman (Elizabeth), and Ed (Maria); 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Norma Sanger.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2026 at St. Charles Borromeo Church on Ackerman Boulevard, with visitation preceding the liturgy from 9:30-10:30am. Interment will follow at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens. If unable to attend in person, please join us in prayer and participate fully at www.mgparish.org
