Elaine Moorman Bellert

August 27, 1934 – September 5, 2026

Elaine Moorman Bellert lived her life with a deep love of family, a wonderful sense of adventure, and an appreciation for the simple pleasures that make life memorable—a good book, a thoughtful card, and time spent with family.

Born August 27, 1934, to Frederick B. Moorman and Dorothy Hodapp Moorman, Elaine grew up in Oakwood. She graduated from Julienne High School and attended the University of Dayton before beginning the chapter of her life that would always mean the most to her: building and caring for her family.

Elaine married the love of her life, John Bellert, in 1956, and together they shared 51 years of marriage as inseparable partners and best friends. They loved traveling together, exploring many places both near and far. Among their most memorable adventures were cruises to Alaska and Antarctica, and visits to sites throughout Europe.

Above all else, Elaine loved her family. She is survived by her three children: Mary Ann Rice (Bob) of Springboro, Ohio; Matthew Bellert (Diane) of Washington Township, Ohio; and Judy Koutlas of Nashville, Tennessee. Her family continued to grow to include six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom brought tremendous joy to her life. Elaine is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Paluska and Theresa Stengel (Larry), and her brother-in-law, Michael Bellert (Mary Sue), along with the many members of her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, her 3 sisters and husbands: Jean Yusko-Vincke (George, John), Shirley Schaefer (Chuck), Mary Lou Ryan (Ralph), brother-in-law Frances Paluska, and nephews: Tony Ryan, Mike Schaefer, and Fred Yusko.

Elaine's caring nature extended across generations. While raising her family, she was a stay-at-home mother and later lovingly helped care for both her parents and her in-laws. After their passing, Elaine began another chapter when she accepted a position with Hallmark Cards, where she worked for eight years. It was a fitting place for someone who truly believed in remembering birthdays, celebrating milestones, and letting people know they were being thought of.

She was an avid reader throughout her life and later discovered Mahjong, enjoying both the game and the friendships that came with it.

Elaine was always up for an adventure, especially when it involved her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them at the beach, shopping at Talbots, and enjoying a good cocktail—whether a martini or her favorite, Jack Daniel’s. These simple pleasures, especially when shared with the people she loved, brought her great joy.

Elaine's faith was an important and enduring part of her life. She loved the Lord and found strength and comfort in attending mass and in her daily prayer life, especially through praying the rosary. Her faith quietly guided the way she lived—loving her family, caring for others, and meeting life with humility and grace.

Elaine had a warm, kind smile and a gentle spirit. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, devotion to family, and ability to make others feel cared for and loved. The family extends special thanks to the caring staff of Austin Trace Health & Rehabilitation and Bella Care Hospice for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Bella Care Hospice in Elaine's memory.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 21, from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Miamisburg, Ohio. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
