Doris Irene Brinkman, age 95, of Centerville, passed away September 4, 2026. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 13, 1930 to Edward and Christine (Brinkman) Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman, her son, Dale Norman Brinkman, her sister, Norma and her husband, Donald Luther.
Doris grew up in Dayton on Shroyer Rd with her sister, Norma. Doris graduated from Saint Joseph High School in 1948. Doris met the love of her life, Norman Paul Brinkman at the age of 18 and they married October 14, 1950. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in October of 2023 with family and friends. Doris and Norman were blessed with 3 children, Dale (Darien) Brinkman, Dan (Debbie) Brinkman and Mark (Linda) Brinkman, 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Frank) Noel, Megan (Scott) Sudik, Bob (Sarah) Brinkman, Alex (Marien ) Brinkman, Annalisa Koehler, Brandy (Jeff) Barrett, Jacob Brinkman and Connor Brinkman, 15 great grandchildren, Alexis, Jonathan, Haley, Kendall, Kelsey, Eli, Preston, Gage,Tyler, Nathan, Brandon, Logan, Gabrielle, Brody, Andre and Judith, and 3 great great grandchildren, Jameson, Walker, and Kinsley.

Doris was so proud of her family, raising 3 boys and enjoying family trips in the summers pulling a trailer to Disneyland and to Colorado and the states in between.

Doris enjoyed sewing. She sewed many of her own dresses and clothes. She also sewed many dresses and outfits for her grand daughters’ dolls. Another activity she loved was the Square Dancing Club which her and Norman participated in with family and friends culminating in a trip to Spain for a Square Dancing Extravaganza. Doris worked for St. Charles Parish for many years and retired when Norman did in 1984. Later on Doris became an accomplished Cross Stitcher stitching away many beautiful scenes for their cottage and elsewhere.

They moved into their cottage at St Leonard’s in the mid 90’s and relished their time volunteering for many functions and activities at St Leonard’s.
She loved getting together with the neighbors on Duckview Ct and always looked forward to their weekly card games with family at Aunt Joan’s on Tuesday evenings and the delicious dinners that followed. Doris and Norman enjoyed many years of retirement, first traveling in their motorhome to all 48 contiguous states. In addition, they enjoyed several beautiful trips to Europe with friends and siblings. They had wonderful memories of their time at Put-In-Bay with the family starting in 1950. Later on Doris and Norman settled into their winter home in Estero Florida where they enjoyed their many friends and family visits for 25 years. But most of all , they have had countless wonderful memories of time spent with their kids and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family and friends please join us in celebrating Doris’ life with the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leonard’s Church, 8100 Clyo Road, Centerville, Oh. 45458, on Friday, September 11, at 11 am officiated by Father Jerry Haemmerle . The family will receive friends from 10-11am immediately prior to the mass at St. Leonard’s Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life for Doris will then follow at Dan and Debbie Brinkman’s home at 8293 Rhine Way , Centerville, Oh. 45458.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Doris’ name to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton
