Denise Louise Sears (Sargent), 62, of Dayton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly in her home on Friday, September 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia and Austin Sargent, parents-in-law, Rosemary and Everett Sears, and sisters-in-law, Julie Chmiel, Krista Sears, and Judy Sears.
Denise is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mark; sons Chad and Matthew (Ashley), daughter Ashley (Ryan) Morrissey; her six grandchildren, Brady, Gabrielle, Kiernan, Brigid, Patrick, and Colin; and siblings, Janice Issaacs, Mark (Leslie) Sargent, Michael (Kathleen) Sargent, and Nancy (Jim) Pierson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other friends and relatives.
Denise attended Chaminade Julienne High School, class of 1979. At C.J., in 1976, she met the love of her life, Mark. Excited to start their lives together, they wed in 1981. Denise and Mark could not wait to start a family of their own. Chad was born the following year, and a short eleven months later, Matthew was born. In 1988, they completed their family when they welcomed their only daughter, Ashley, to the world.
A devoted mother, Denise was more than a stay-at-home mom during their formative years, where she ran their CYO track program, coached sports, and was extensively involved in all their school and sporting events. She never missed her children’s games, a tradition she upheld when her grandchildren began playing sports.
When she returned to work, Denise was the dietary manager at Oak Creek Terrace. For over two decades, until she passed, she devoted herself to the community and there was not a person there that did not know her. Denise loved getting to know her residents and was very gratified in helping them.
Throughout her life, Denise was a devout Catholic. She deeply cared for her loved ones and her loyalty to them was unwavering. Her contagious smile would light up any room she would enter. She loved her family deeply and was their true matriarch. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren with love, watching Notre Dame football, and was known for her cooking and showing hospitality to all she met.
