Obituary

Catherine M. Jannett of Centerville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the age of 95. She was born on December 19, 1930 in Rochester, NY. She grew up in a loving family on her cherished Rosewood Terrace and recalled fondly over the years her memories of childhood neighbors and friends who did for each other in times of need, despite being born during the Great Depression and growing up in the World War II years. She met her future husband, Richard H. Jannett, who was a decorated WWII vet, at work in Rochester and they married on May 30, 1951. Together they had 4 children who were their pride and joy:

Rick Jannett, Tom Jannett, Joanne (nee Jannett) Jannetta and Peggy (nee Jannett) Hoffmeister.

After moving to Ohio due to a GM relocation, they continued raising their children in Centerville, Ohio. After seeing them through to adulthood, college and successful careers, Cathy and Dick relocated to Vero Beach, FL after retirement. Their lives were filled with many fun and happy times with friends and family visits.

When her dearest Dick passed away in 2005 after 54 loving years together, Cathy relocated back to Centerville to be close to family. Her life back in Ohio revolved around her children, grandchildren and volunteering at St. Leonard’s Retirement Community. She spent many wonderful hours working at Kreative Korner, being a new neighbor hospitality coordinator and numerous other charity activities. In her later years, Cathy lived at Courtyard of Centerville and was beloved by all who encountered her bright blue eyes, beautiful smile and fun, kind, happy spirit.

Cathy will be so greatly missed by her friends, family, children and grandchildren: Brian Sturgeon, Drew Sturgeon, Andy Jannett, Audrey Hoffmeister Hughes, Devon Hoffmeister and Drake Hoffmeister.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at: 11:00 am at Westbrock Funeral Home at 5980 Bigger Rd. Kettering, OH 45440.

Visitation will be from 10 – 11 am. Burial will follow the funeral service at David’s Cemetery.
