Obituary

Betty L. Rector Campbell, 79, of Dayton, Ohio, died on January 1st, 2026.

Betty was born in Dayton, Ohio, on May 13, 1946. She graduated from Belmont high school in 1964. Betty was strong-spirited and fun to be around. She laughed a lot and loved to socialize with friends and family. Two weeks ago, she made the brave decision to receive hospice care instead of doing dialysis. It was a decision she made, after a year of considering the pros and cons. She was given the chance to visit with her siblings and friends, either in person or on the phone, as she was lovingly tended to by her daughters. She died peacefully, in her daughter’s home.

Betty worked for Mead in Dayton for over 20 years. She also worked at the blood bank when Mead left Dayton.

Betty loved and adored her grandchildren; she spoiled the heck out of her great grandson. In her younger years, Betty loved camping and taking vacations. She was always into shenanigans with her friends and family and definitely the life of the party. She loved baking and cooking. For the last few years, Betty lived at St. Leonard’s Retirement Community in Centerville. She liked to play bingo and cards and she enjoyed going on dinner outings with the girls.

She was survived by her daughters, Kimberly Driskell and Melissa Povlsen, son-in-law David Povlsen. Grandchildren, Jarred Abney, Joshua Abney, Samual Driskell, Brooklynn Grove, Tristan Bode, Alexis Daily and her great grandson Josiah Abney; siblings, Katherine (Vickie) Schumacher, Alphus F Rector (Elaine), Della Jean Hoop, Joseph M. Rector (Angelina), Timothy Rector (Becky), Laura Lin Flores (Jun), and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was proceeded in death by her father, Alphus Rector, mother, Laura Rector, stillborn son, Scotty and her Grandson Brandon Christopher Daily.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton, for the compassionate care and support for both Betty and her daughters. A remembrance of life will be held on January 18, 2026 from 3-5pm at Joseph Bernadine Residence at St Leonard’s.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to https://www.kidney.org. However, her brother Joseph still owes her a dozen yellow roses.

The WESTBROCK FUNERAL HOME- DAYTON is serving her family.
