Barbara Zimmerman

Zimmerman, Barbara G., age 74, of Kettering, passed away on July 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on February 1, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI, Barb's journey saw her and her mother eventually settling in Kettering. She attended Fairmont West High School and went on to earn her Nursing Degree from Kettering College of Medical Arts. Barb's distinguished career took her and her family to San Diego, CA, where she held esteemed positions at UCSD Medical Center, the US Naval Hospital, and Scripps Memorial Hospital. She later returned to Kettering to conclude her career at Kettering Memorial Hospital, where it all began. 

Barb is survived by her son Dane, his wife Tracy, and their four children: Andrew, Zachary, Colin, and Madison. 

Known for her intellect, strong independence, realistic outlook on life, and remarkable calm under pressure, Barb made a lasting impression on all who knew her. 

Her love for all things culinary, her unwavering stance against ignorance and discrimination, and her compassion for animals will be remembered and cherished by her family and friends. These values continue to live on through her son. 

A private day of reflection and celebration of Barb's life will be held by her family. In lieu of flowers,they kindly request that donations be made in her memory to the local animal shelter. 

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Stoney Ridge Senior Living for the outstanding care provided to Barb over the past five years.
