Anita L. Mackey

Anita Mackey, 83 passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. Anita was born on November 6, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio. She was the daughter of Paul and Mary Louise Glaser and the sister of Paul, Elizabeth, and Mary Francis. 

She was raised in the St. Anthony Parish where she learned and grew in her Catholic faith. She was fortunate to live near her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in this East Dayton community. She attended Julienne and St. Joseph's Commercial High School where she made life long friends. As a young woman, she took great pride in her work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and in later years with the Mound Laboratory in Miamisburg. Anita married Larry Mackey on November 6, 1961 where they had a beautiful 50 years of marriage. 

Anita now joins her beloved husband in heaven. Anita is survived by her children Melissa (Bill) Zimmer, Kim (Greg) Harnett, her grandchildren Christopher (Ruth) Zimmer, Lisa (Cavan) Zimmer, Andrew Zimmer, David Zimmer, Will (Caroline) Zimmer, Max (Logan) Harnett, Tess Harnett, Tate Harnett and Beck Harnett. Also, her sister Franci (Joe Mihok) and many nieces and nephews who she adored. 

Anita enjoyed serving her parish church St. Charles Borromeo in many capacities, she also was a dedicated member of the New Life Healing Ministry team at Incarnation parish. Anita’s Friday morning prayer group with friends brought her great joy. 

Anita will be missed by her long time friends Charlene, Kathy, Lois and her Mound lunch friends. Anita was an active member in the Christ Child Society of Dayton. 

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 10:00 am on Friday, August 1st at St. Charles Borromeo Church followed by a Christian burial mass at 11:00.
