Norma E. Milanick

March 10, 1923 - November 3, 2016

Norma E. “Toni” (Turner) Milanick, age 93, resident of Centerville, OH, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Following a long battle, she succumbed to complications of pneumonia at Saint Leonard’s Rehab Center. She was born March 10, 1923 in Vicco, KY, to Granville Pearl “GP” and Grace (Francis) Turner; she was the fourth child of eight. The family moved to Ohio during the depression for work, settling first in Blanchester, and then later in Dayton. During WWII Toni worked on bombsights for Bickford, Inc. In 1943, she married Lt. Russel “Russ” Milanick (US Army Air Corps), and a year later became a mother to daughter Tanya. Following the war, she and her husband managed a summer-stock theater with the John Kinley Players in Deerlake, PA; then, they moved to Philadelphia where Russ completed law studies at Temple University. Thereafter, they resided in the Dayton area for the rest of their lives. Toni’s daughter Tanya, married Lt. Harold “Hal” McGinnis USMC, in 1966, and had two children. Toni enjoyed being close with her large extended family. She enjoyed traveling, visiting her daughter and grandchildren at the various military installations her son-in-law was stationed. She shared a passion for antiques with her sister Nickie, and would travel to many shows. Russ and Toni had a vacation house in Gatlinburg, TN, and went as often as they could. Following 50 years of marriage, Russ died in 1992. Her parents also preceded her in death. She was the last to survive of her siblings; Arnold Turner, Hobert Turner, “Nickie” (Turner) Elliot, Robert and Bert Ellen (Pearce) Turner, Howard and Anita (Turner) Musick, David Lynn Turner, and Ronald Turner, most of whom resided in the Dayton area. During the last years of her life, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, in Centerville. She is survived by her daughter Tanya (Milanick) McGinnis and granddaughter Stephanie (McGinnis) Thomas, both of Centerville, OH; and grandson Jonathan McGinnis, great-grandsons Timothy and Andrew, and great-granddaughter Natalie, all of Centreville, VA. Visitation (10:00 a.m.) and Service (11:00 a.m.) will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Westbrock Funeral Home, 1712 Wayne Ave, Dayton, 45410. Pastor Rob Wackerman will preside. Burial will immediately follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
